Exhibition of the Basel typography class

What took me so long? Over a week without any post in my blog? Yeah, I'm sorry. But I had to spend the last days and nights on finishing my typography project at the Academy of Art and Design Basel. We did in groups of one or two students several concepts for the next yearbook of the well-known Theater Basel. Yesterday – on Decembter 18th – we presented the concepts to the administration of the theater in short image slideshows after which each approach in the form of a dummy of the yearbook was displayed for individual examination. In the following I will show some impressions of the exhibition. I'll also have a closer look at some of the presented concepts besides the one I did in cooperation with Jan Wächter in separate articles.
Mentor of the project was professor for typography Marion Fink. The Theater Basel was represented by its current director Georges Delnon and Helen Bartenschlager who is responsible for the visual appearance of the institution.
Above you can see Marion Fink talking to Georges Delnon and interaction professor Reinhard Manz about the shown concepts for the yearbook.
Kambiz Shafei, founder of typography.ir and one of our master students at the academy, here is having a look at one of the dummies.
Student Thomas Lehner here explains his very impressive approach to his fellow students.

Some colleagues examining my team's dummy.
Another great one by Jacob Kadrmas.

A whole bunch of ideas. Finally one dummy of each concept was handed over to Helen Bartenschlager.
Also there's just a little chance that one of the presented approaches designed without too many thoughts about the production costs, will be worked out to production line status without being modified, it was a great experience to do this project – even it was a hard job after all. ;)
